Aqua Aerobics is similar to normal aerobics but the exercises take place in the water. Classes consist of choreographed routines to music involving a warm up, muscular strengthening and endurance exercises, aerobic exercises and a cool down and stretch. Classes are designed to increase overall fitness, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility.
Aqua Aerobics is suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness and it is not essential to be a swimmer to participate. It is especially beneficial for those who have knee, back or other joint problems as the water's natural buoyancy allows you to exercise with less strain on joints and muscles. It is therefore especially beneficial during rehabilitation periods or pregnancy.
Aqua Aerobics offers an interesting and fun alternative to land based exercise and uses the waters natural resistance for an effective total body workout.
