Sport for Life¡¯s tennis program offers a range of coaching and training classes for kids of all abilities.
Our coaching sessions are actively 'coach driven' where all students will be shown correct grips, swing patterns and shapes, foot-work etc. Depending on the level, progressive and relevant tactical elements will be introduced and explained. If a student is serious about maximising his or her improvement, these sessions remain an on-going component throughout their development as there are always corrections to be made and new shots to be learned.

We recommend two classes per week for Trailblazers and Top Guns, and for squad two per week is mandatory. A 10% discount is offered if training twice per week (included in Squad price).

Class Descriptions
Level 1 - Tennis Tots
An introductory class for young kids where many of them will be swinging a racquet for the first time. Basic strokes are taught although the emphasis will be on motor skills, hand eye co-ordination and fun! 3-4 children per class.
Level 2 - Young Guns
Major components of forehand, backhand, volleying along with introduction of the serve will be covered. Every week a new technique will be learnt along with revision of previously taught skill. While learning new strokes is important, having fun and enjoying tennis is of high priority! 3-6 children per class.
Level 3 - Trailblazers
By the end of the course players will show more confidence and consistency in their game Major strokes and serve will be reinforced along with introduction of topspin and backspin. Players will be taught about game play and will have have full understanding of scoring, rules, and etiquette. 3-6 children per class
Level 4 - Top Guns
For kids who show promise and have a developed game to back it up.Players will already be competing in regular tournaments and understand all the major facets of the game. Coaching will introduce game strategy, fitness and advanced stroke technique such as variation of serve. 3-4 children per class.
Junior Squad Training (90mins)
Designed for the younger prodigies (8-11 yrs. old) who possess or show potential to begin match play and competition. The fundamental strokes of these players are solid so the emphasis will be on basic game tactics, fitness and mental strength. Developing consistent service will also be a high priority. 3-4 per class.
Senior Squad Training (90mins)
For more mature players (11 -17 yrs. old) who have already developed their own playing style and who have had prior match experience. Serving consistency is a must along with an understanding of strategic game plans and advanced stroke technique. Regular progress in self development and match results will be noted along with the setting of short/long term goals. 3-4 per class.
End of Season Camps
At the end of each season we bring all our players together and run level ¨Cspecific coaching camps.These camps include fun games and drills and a mini-tournament and are a great chance for players to meet other children and coaches. Note that credits from any rained out sessions automatically go towards these camps.
Summer Season Camps will be held on Sunday June 8th (Pudong) and June 15th (Puxi and Tennis Squads); venues to be confirmed.Cost/person is RMB350 for Levels 1-4 (3 credits),RMB700 (4 credits).

Tournaments and Matches
Sport for Life has taken a leading role in developing junior tournaments for our squad players with other major tennis organisations in Shanghai. These provide opportunities for players to gain competitive experience, track their development, and also be part of a team, with individual and team results being recorded throughout the season.
